The Junior Ferns took on Brazil in two matches in Rio de Janeiro in late May, going down 3-1 and 1-0 as both teams continued their preparations for Canada 2014.

Steph Skilton put the Junior Ferns in front just five minutes into the opening encounter, turning home the rebound after an Emma Rolston effort had been parried.

Brazil struck back virtually straight away through Byanca, and an own goal put the host nation in the box seat before the interval, with Andressa settling the contest half-way through the second spell.

Rafaela scored the only goal of the game in the second encounter, two days later, with New Zealand's performance in the second fixture pleasing coach Aaron McFarland.
The matches, both of which were played at the Estadio Municipal General Sylvio Raulino de Oliveria, saw Adelaide United defender Jessie Wharepouri given the chance to stake a claim for a place in the squad which will be heading to the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Finals in August.
