Nina Creedman arrived in Auckland from her native USA early in 2005, and captained Three Kings United's Premier Women's team throughout that campaign.
Her experience and guidance were of great value to a young team which, with the addition of the club's New Zealand squad members, reached the SWANZ Cup semi-finals that season.
A job opportunity with the Wellington City Council took Nina to the capital last year, but she continued her on-field exploits with Seatoun, whom she helped clinch their maiden Central Region Premier Women's League title, as well as win the Kelly Cup and reach the SWANZ Cup semi-finals.
Late on the Saturday afternoon of March 24, while descending Mt. Sealy, south-west of Mt. Cook, with her climbing party, Nina was struck by falling rocks. Despite efforts to revive her, she died at the scene.
Tragically, the climb was an early celebratory birthday expedition for the adventurous urban designer, one she made at this time due to her special day falling in the football season.
