1971
Ports around New Zealand were rammed with locally flagged vessels in November 1971, as NZ's seamen took industrial action.
Onehunga was no exception, with a record-equalling eight ships alongside at the height of the strike - a tally never reached again.
Closest to the camera in this historic photo is "Squall", outside "Guardian Carrier" at berth D.
Then it's "Parera" outside "Awanui" - you can pick her bipod masts a mile off - alongside berth C.
Next up is the tug "Manukau" alongside "Unit Shipper", with the unmistakable stern derrick of "Puriri" next to berth B.
And the vessels paired up alongside berth A are "Pateke" and the completely obsured "Titoki".
