Built in Uddevalla, she is powered by one 675hp Mirrlees, Bickerton & Day diesel, producing a service speed of 10.3 knots.
Ice strengthened, she has four 3 tonne derricks, and is equipped with the latest radar as well as a finely varnished wooden bridge - a rarity in this day and age.
In 1962, she became the last vessel acquired by the Kaipara Steam Ship Company, in conjunction with the Fletcher Group, who assumed full control of Kaipara in 1965. Throughout her time on the coast, she was managed by the Northern Steam Ship Company.
She traded from her home port to South Island ports, including the carriage of shipping construction machinery, materials and supplies to Deep Cove in Doubtful Sound, for use in the construction of the West Arm (Lake Manapouri) Power Station and tail-race tunnel.
She was sold to Reef Shipping in June 1968, during the process of which she was renamed "Jean Philippe", the change of name taking place while she was alongside at Onehunga.
She was subsequently sold to Malaysian interests, and was last heard of laid up in Kallang in 1983.
