Acquired by the government for a reported $1,390,000, she was the second ship to sport the Shipping Corporation of NZ colours, and sailed from Onehunga to the Cook Islands, Tahiti and Niue Island in conjunction with the Foreign Affairs Department of New Zealand between November 1974 and May 1978, at which point she was chartered by Pacific Forum Line for nineteen months.
Her first departure from Onehunga for this new organisation - which took seven years of inter-governmental discussions before being formed - commenced on 31 May, Suva her initial destination.
Despite being full to the brim when heading north from New Zealand, she continuously made losses on the trade, a combination of having too little capacity for the northbound trade, and too little trade for her capacity on the return journey from Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and American Samoa.
Sold to Cook Islands interests in 1981. Her fate is unknown.
