Built in Glasgow, she was powered by one 850hp British Polar diesel, producing a service speed of 11 knots. She had a crew of fifteen.

Launched on 1 February, 1956, her delivery voyage lasted 48 days, arriving at Napier from the Clyde on 3 August, before commencing work for the Canterbury Steam Shipping Company.

In 1967 she was chartered by Holm Shipping for four months, then by Richardson Shipping for ten months, after which she was fitted with shifting boards and placed in the coastal bulk wheat trade.

She was transferred to Holm Shipping in 1969, and after just over a year in Union Shipping's management, left New Zealand shores in 1973 for Panamanian and, later, Singaporean interests.

Broken up in Singapore in January 1985.
