Now here's a ship with a decidedly interesting history, to put it mildly!
Purchased by Black Robin Freighters on 5 November 2008, following a five-year search for a general cargo tween deck ship, the initial plans were to operate her on the coastal trade, taking bulk grain to North Island ports and bringing back fertiliser, as well as travelling to the Chatham Islands and conducting international voyages.
Best-laid plans, etc.. Here's the Timaru Herald's report on the story of "Jaguar".
She is pictured soon after berthing at Onehunga on 13 January 2010 during her lone call to the Port, having arrived from Timaru with a 1200 tonne cargo of bulk grain, which is being suction-discharged directly into trucks.
Who would have known then that a shade over two years later, "Jaguar" would be no more, stripped down at Lyttelton between 1 October 2011 and 26 January 2012 before entering the drydock, where Stark Bros. Marine Engineers completed the deconstruction process, exporting the metal to India.
